The starting point of my artistic work is a conceptual approach from the very beginning that brings the interaction of the existing space, chosen statements and themes into clear focus.

It is important to tap into and make conscious use of the existing spatial parameters and the architectural character of the installation site as well as the prevailing lighting conditions and proportions. Because each space is different. It has its own identity and characteristics which shape it and which in turn have a highly influential effect on people whether they are just walking through, waiting, working or living there.

Only from this perfectly crafted symbiosis of location and theme can a visual world emerge that shapes, stages, expands, enriches and enhances the space in the desired way.

A special shooting process using a high-resolution camera and elaborate digital retouching, in which up to 100 individual shots can be stitched together to create one single, final theme, and a natural-looking overall image. It blends organically into the existing setting and, thanks to its natural effect and absolute high-resolution quality, the space takes on a reality of its own.

The countless separate events, situations and views that make up the overall picture offer extreme richness of detail using the highest resolution, so that even the smallest features can be detected clearly and vividly by the viewer.

In addition to the image quality, the “stitching” process also re-composes and rearranges the image’s content, so that the informative value is enhanced for the viewer and there is more “action” in the final image. Adjustment of perspective, flawless retouching of transitions or conscious changes in lighting conditions are just a few of the techniques used in post-production that result in a single, natural and realistic-looking image.

Photo installations can be created with a variety of materials. The planned theme, the existing architecture and the desired effect in the room combine to determine the most suitable kinds of material.

Due to my holistic approach to planning and the design possibilities for developing the picture’s theme, it is possible to integrate doors, windows, columns, projections or even the existing room's furniture into the installations.

A high-quality, extraordinary product can only be flawless if all aspects of its production are of the same high quality! That is why I have been working for years with a renowned reproduction company that has access to all the latest and newest printers and print media.

I consult closely with you so that the final photo file is adapted to the special features of the print medium using proofs so that sharpness, brightness and the authenticity of the colours are 100 per cent consistent for the final result. This is important because each medium to be printed has its own character.

Authenticity is in the eye of the beholder! In fact, all installations are 100% realistic in their effect and charm. Parameters such as proportion, light and movement that I consistently consider in the planning and conception of the image's theme and in the subsequent photo shoots, are all brought together in my final composition of the individual images (stitching) and combined to form an organic, natural-looking theme.

Thanks to creative image processing, I have all kinds of options for expanding, changing or even creating new spaces.

The high density of details and information appears as a natural, hyper-realistic image that often prompts a double-take from the viewer with its larger-than-life, narrative, spatial staging.

To achieve maximum detail at the highest resolution, I use a Phase One medium format camera with specially coated Schneider Kreuznach lenses and a digital back with 120 million pixels. The sensor in the digital back of the medium format camera is 2.5 times larger than the sensor area in the best DSLR cameras (Digital Single-Lens Reflex) from Canon or Nikon.

The combination of high-end technology I choose guarantees me the best resolution currently available and a unique look that allows unparalleled depth and breath-taking details with minimal image noise.

In combination with software adapted to my camera system, my technology can deliver absolutely precise, impressive results with even and fine tone gradations. They are the perfect data and working material for further processing and the final composition of the large-format installations.
