EHC München - On Ice

THE IDEA OF TURNING THE FLOOR IN THE ENTRANCE AREA OF OUR OFFICE INTO AN ICE SURFACE IS INGENIOUS! AT FIRST GLANCE, IT CONVINCINGLY CONVEYS TO OUR EMPLOYEES, VISITORS AND FANS THE SPECIAL FLAIR OF OUR MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENT – THE ICE. THE IMPLEMENTATION IS ABSOLUTELY REALISTIC.

You can even see the scratches of the skates in the ice surface. It’s just fabulous!

      THE OBJECTIVE

After carrying out some successful photo work in the VIP area of the EHC Munich in the Eistadion München ice stadium, I was then commissioned to provide the foyer of the EHC Munich ice hockey club, which is also a reception area for guests and sponsors, with an ice hockey atmosphere.

    THE IMPLEMENTATION

Skating on thin ice – there couldn’t be a better phrase to describe implementing my installation for the EHC. The management enthusiastically accepted the most important element of my proposal – to move the ice rink from the stadium to the office.

For this purpose, I used a riser set at a rather dizzy height to aerially photograph the surface of the ice in sections after the professional team’s training session. In order to emphasise and augment the realistic feel of an ice rink, I deliberately photographed the ice rink just after training so that the scratches made by the blades were clearly visible on the ice. Afterwards, the ice rink was redesigned on the computer, the club logo was added, striking lines and the goal area were provided and adapted to the existing floor dimensions in the office building.

An extremely robust, abrasion-resistant floor film was used as the base material on which all details of the ice surface structure are shown to very impressive effect. As an additional connecting spatial element, a life-sized image of EHC Munich’s goalkeeper, standing in front of his goal, was mounted on the wall opposite the office’s entrance. Let’s start the game!
